How do I know if my stucco needs repair or full replacement?
Small isolated cracks can usually be repaired. Soft spots, bulging, widespread cracking, or water stains below windows often point to moisture damage behind the stucco, which needs a larger removal. We open a small test area to check before recommending either.
Can you match the stucco texture on my house?
In most cases, yes. We match the finish pattern and sand size first, then address color, since a patch rarely matches old faded stucco exactly. For the most uniform look, many homeowners add a color coat over the whole wall or house.
Do I need a permit to re-stucco my house in Los Angeles?
Small repairs often do not need one. Replacing stucco over large areas, especially when lath or sheathing is replaced, can require a permit and inspection. Rules vary by city, and KR confirms what applies to your address before work starts.
How long does a full re-stucco take?
Timelines depend on the size of the house and the system used. Three-coat stucco needs curing time between coats, so a full house commonly takes several weeks from tear-off to final color. We give you a schedule with your written estimate.
What is the difference between three-coat and one-coat stucco?
Three-coat stucco is built up in a scratch coat, brown coat, and finish coat over lath. One-coat systems use a single base layer, often over foam, followed by a finish coat. Both are used in California, and the right choice depends on the wall, the budget, and the look you want.
